Dr. Maria Kunstadter, Dental Director

Dr. Maria Kunstadter, DDS, is the Dental Director with Workforce Dental Solutions, where she brings over 35 years of seasoned dental expertise to the specialized field of dental injury case management. In this pivotal role, she provides clinical oversight for dental injury cases, operating as a dedicated payer advocate. Her objective is to ensure that appropriate causation is meticulously determined and that injury-related treatment plans are precisely aligned with the specific dental injury, thereby guaranteeing the best possible clinical outcomes. She offers a crucial "second set of eyes" to verify the accuracy of causation and the suitability of treatment plans.

A proud graduate of the University of Missouri at Kansas City School of Dentistry, Dr. Kunstadter has consistently made significant contributions across various facets of dentistry. She co-founded The Smile Salon, the Midwest’s first Dental Spa, and The TeleDentists, a pioneering platform in teledentistry. Her innovative approach to dentistry was recognized by Invisalign Corporation in 2004, when she was designated an “Innovator.” In 2008, she achieved the esteemed status of Elite Preferred Provider with Invisalign, a distinction awarded to only 1% of Invisalign providers worldwide. Notably, she was the first woman dentist to receive this honor.

In addition to her private practice and entrepreneurial ventures, Dr. Kunstadter has been actively involved in numerous professional affiliations. She is a founding member of the American Academy of Clear Aligners, the Academy of Laser Dentistry, and the CTeL Tele-Oral Health Coalition. She also founded the UMKC Dental Outreach Program and serves as a board member for the World Outreach Foundation.

Dr. Kunstadter’s commitment to service is evident in her extensive involvement in medical mission trips. Since 1982, she has led and participated in over 24 medical mission trips worldwide, providing essential dental care in underserved countries.

In 2013, she was appointed the Dental Director of The PAINS Alliance of Kansas City, an organization developed to address chronic pain nationwide. Under her leadership, The TeleDentists was able to respond effectively to the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, resulting in a remarkable 1200% increase in revenue.

Dr. Kunstadter is a tireless advocate for dental/medical integration as a solution for improving healthcare. She also currently serves as the CEO of The TeleDentists and is a lifetime member of the American Telemedicine Association. Despite her busy schedule, Dr. Kunstadter finds time to enjoy her grandchildren.
